Locks Keys Safes

Locksmith in Peninsular ParkChange the locks,
keep the peace of mind

Sometimes the honest answer is a full lock change: a cylinder that fights every key, a handle set that no longer matches the door, a break-up where rekeying feels like half a measure. For homes across Peninsular Park we replace the hardware, match the finish to what is already on the house and hand over new keys.

Shop rules

Sound hardware, straight answers.

  1. Questions welcomed. Ask about the lock, the method, the parts or the reasoning. A good explanation is part of the service, not a favour.
  2. Nothing forced that could be finessed. We reach for picks and shims before drills, and we tell you if the lock has left us no gentle option.
  3. Swept, wiped and working. Metal filings, drywall dust and old screws all leave with us. The lock is tested from both sides and the key handed over.
  4. Open 24/7, same fees any hour. Ask us what the visit involves.

How a visit goes

Older houses around here have older doors, and older doors have their own logic. A mortise lock from the 1920s was built to be serviced, not thrown away, and a rim lock on a back porch may simply need cleaning and a new spring.

    Call and describe the door

Describe the property, the hardware and what has changed, and the visit starts from what you have seen.

    On our way

You tell us what is happening with the door, who has keys and what you would like to be different afterwards. We ask a few questions so we arrive with the right parts.

2021 census: what it means at the door

Every square is one home in a hundred.

  • 35 in 100 homes · mixed ages
  • About 35% of homes in Innisfil were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census. In an area where homes span several eras, one street may have original mortise locks and the next builder-grade cylinders. A locksmith working here carries parts for both, so whichever door he meets, the job finishes in one visit.
  • Single-detached houses make up about 90% of homes in Innisfil (2021 Census).Garage entry doors on detached houses are often the household's real front door, used more than the formal entry. They deserve the same quality of lock, and keying them alike with the house means one key does the whole daily routine.

Ask us anything about locks

If the cylinder is replaced, can it be keyed to my existing key?

Often, yes. A replacement cylinder in the same keyway can be pinned to the cuts on the key already on your ring, so the front and back doors stay on one key and nothing else in the house changes. If the old keyway is no longer made or the key is badly worn, the new cylinder comes with fresh keys and the other doors can be rekeyed to match in the same visit.

My lock is the homeowner-rekeyable type but the working key is lost. Can it still be reset?

Yes. Those cylinders let an owner change the key with a small learn tool, but only while a working key is in hand. Without one, a design such as Kwikset SmartKey is removed and placed in its own reset fixture, returning it to a blank state; other cylinder types are rekeyed by their own method instead. A new key is then set and the lock goes back on. It is a few extra minutes rather than a replacement.

Is there anything different about steel or fibreglass doors?

The lock hardware is the same; the door construction changes the method. Steel and fibreglass doors have a wooden or composite block inside the lock stile, and existing bores are used wherever possible. Where a new deadbolt must be added, the locksmith drills with a jig and bits suited to the skin so the hole is clean and square, and fits an edge plate designed for that door. Insulated doors also move less with humidity, so alignment tends to hold well.

Do I need to prove the mailbox is mine before you change the lock?

Yes, and it takes only a moment. For a house or a standalone box, an address match usually settles it. For one compartment in a shared building panel, a lease, a deed, a unit number matching the building's own records, or confirmation from the property manager does the job. This step protects every household on the same panel, including whoever calls next.
