- Deadbolt InstallationThe old deadbolt has grown lazy.
- Vintage Mortise Lock ServiceThe key turns freely in the round cylinder on the door, all the way around and back, without the bolt shifting at all.
- Mailbox Lock ReplacementAfter a winter of road spray and salt, the little lock on the mailbox door has gone stiff, then gritty, then almost immovable.
- Access Control InstallationThe back door of the shop runs on one key, and by now it lives on six different rings: yours, two managers, a cleaner, a supplier…
- Commercial-Grade Lock ReplacementThe kitchen delivery door gets shouldered open more than a hundred times a shift, and lately the latch slips past the strike…

Sort your Tent City door with one call
Our default for doors in Tent City is to repair before replacing. A deadbolt that grinds usually needs its strike moved, not a new lock. A cylinder that fights the key often wants fresh pins and a clean. We say so, even when a replacement would be the easier sale, and when replacement really is right we explain why and show you the options in your hand.

Shop rules
Sound hardware, straight answers.
- Questions welcomed. Ask about the lock, the method, the parts or the reasoning. A good explanation is part of the service, not a favour.
- Nothing forced that could be finessed. We reach for picks and shims before drills, and we tell you if the lock has left us no gentle option.
- Swept, wiped and working. Metal filings, drywall dust and old screws all leave with us. The lock is tested from both sides and the key handed over.
- Open 24/7, same fees any hour. Ask us what the visit involves.

How a visit goes
Older houses around here have older doors, and older doors have their own logic. A mortise lock from the 1920s was built to be serviced, not thrown away, and a rim lock on a back porch may simply need cleaning and a new spring.

Step 1 of 5
Call and describe the door
Describe the property, the hardware and what has changed, and the visit starts from what you have seen.

Step 2 of 5
On our way
You tell us what is happening with the door, who has keys and what you would like to be different afterwards. We ask a few questions so we arrive with the right parts.

2021 census: what it means at the door
Every square is one home in a hundred.
- 35 in 100 homes · mixed ages
- 90 in 100 homes · mostly houses
- About 35% of homes in Innisfil were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.Where homes of different generations sit together, additions and renovations are common. A house may have an original front door and a much newer side entry, and bringing both onto the same key and the same standard is a regular job.
- Single-detached houses make up about 90% of homes in Innisfil (2021 Census).Detached houses collect hardware from every renovation. A locksmith visiting one often finds three keyways, two finishes and one door that never latched right. Sorting all of that into a consistent, working set is a satisfying afternoon's work.

Ask us anything about locks
This is the third time this door has locked someone out. Is something wrong with the hardware?
It can be. A cylinder that is worn, a strike plate that has shifted, or a latch that no longer seats squarely will all produce repeat lockouts even though the key looks fine. The locksmith checks the alignment of the door and frame, tests how smoothly the latch throws, and looks at wear inside the cylinder before simply letting you back in. If the hardware is the cause, fixing that during the same visit is usually quicker than calling again next month.
Will my door be boarded up, or can it be made to lock tonight?
Most forced doors lock again during the visit. If the slab and frame are sound, a new lockset goes in and the strike is reinforced. If the jamb is split, a repair plate or a boxed strike screwed into the stud usually holds it. Boarding is reserved for openings where the frame or the door itself is destroyed, and even then it is fitted so the household can get out from inside without a key.
Will drilling a new deadbolt damage my steel or fibreglass door?
Not when it is done for that door. Steel-clad doors are cut with a fine-toothed hole saw run slowly through the skin, guided by a jig so the saw cannot skate on the smooth face, and finished from both sides so each skin stays clean. Fibreglass is scored first so the surface does not chip. Shavings are vacuumed from the foam core, and the edge is finished with a collar or plate suited to the stile inside.
How long does servicing a mortise lock take?
A single entry lock that needs cleaning, springs and a strike adjustment is generally done in one visit of an hour or two. Filing a bit key adds bench time, and a set of interior latches is longer simply because there are more of them. A case that needs a part fabricated, or a replacement case that has to be ordered to size, may mean a second visit; the locksmith says so at the assessment.
