Locked out in Crescent Harbour? Reach us any hour

A safe in Crescent Harbour is opened with patience rather than force. The locksmith identifies the make and mechanism, tries the non-destructive routes first, and only cuts when nothing else will work, in a spot that can be repaired so the safe keeps working. Afterwards he resets the combination or replaces the lock and shows you how to keep it turning.

Shop rules

Sound hardware, straight answers.

  1. Questions welcomed. Ask about the lock, the method, the parts or the reasoning. A good explanation is part of the service, not a favour.
  2. Nothing forced that could be finessed. We reach for picks and shims before drills, and we tell you if the lock has left us no gentle option.
  3. Swept, wiped and working. Metal filings, drywall dust and old screws all leave with us. The lock is tested from both sides and the key handed over.

How a visit goes

Older houses around here have older doors, and older doors have their own logic. A mortise lock from the 1920s was built to be serviced, not thrown away, and a rim lock on a back porch may simply need cleaning and a new spring.

    Call and describe the door

    On our way

You tell us what is happening with the door, who has keys and what you would like to be different afterwards. We ask a few questions so we arrive with the right parts.

2021 census: what it means at the door

Every square is one home in a hundred.

  • 35 in 100 homes · mixed ages
  • About 35% of homes in Innisfil were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census. In an area of varied housing ages, rekeying is the one job that fits every door. Old cylinders and new ones both take fresh pins, so a household moving into either kind of home can start with keys that nobody else holds.
  • Single-detached houses make up about 90% of homes in Innisfil (2021 Census). In areas of single houses, the door nobody watches is the side or back entry. It often has the weakest lock on the property. Fitting a proper deadbolt and a reinforced strike there is a modest job that closes the obvious gap.

Ask us anything about locks

What is the difference between rekeying and replacing a lock?

Rekeying keeps the lock you have and changes only the pins inside the cylinder so a new key operates it and the old one no longer does. It suits hardware that is in good shape and simply needs a fresh key. Replacing swaps the whole lock or cylinder for new hardware, which makes sense when the existing lock is worn, damaged, of low grade, or when you want a different style or a keypad. Either can be done during a lockout visit.

Will drilling a new deadbolt damage my steel or fibreglass door?

Not when it is done for that door. Steel-clad doors are cut with a fine-toothed hole saw run slowly through the skin, guided by a jig so the saw cannot skate on the smooth face, and finished from both sides so each skin stays clean. Fibreglass is scored first so the surface does not chip. Shavings are vacuumed from the foam core, and the edge is finished with a collar or plate suited to the stile inside.

The house came with a smart lock. Can you make it mine?

Yes, and it is treated as a fresh installation rather than a hand-me-down. The lock is reset to factory settings using the maker's procedure, which wipes codes, schedules and paired phones, then enrolled to an account you create. Anything else that could open it, such as a hub or a voice assistant, gets its own check, because those permissions sit outside the lock. The override cylinder is rekeyed, batteries replaced and firmware updated. If the hardware is worn, replacing it is the cleaner choice.

Can an existing safe be bolted down after years of sitting loose?

In most cases, yes. The floor or wall behind it is checked the same way as for a new installation, anchor points on the safe itself are located, and hardware suited to that surface is fitted without needing to move the unit far from where it already sits. An older safe occasionally has anchor holes that were never used, which makes this part of the job simpler than starting from scratch.
